Social Witnesses | Interview with Ernesto Gómez Magaña by Network for Accountability

Date: 03 / April / 2015

In an interview, Ernesto Gómez Magaña, director of the ONG Contraloría Ciudadana para la Rendición de Cuentas, A.C., talks about the Testimonioteca (Testimonial library), which is a portal that collects the Testimonies published by the “social witnesses”, this figure created by the Mexican government in 2004 to help to the impartiality of public purchases. Let us remember the CAPUFE case (scandal about an irregular public purchase documented by a social witness).

“We as organizations participate as social witnesses in the different contracting processes carried out by the federal government, these contracting processes are very specific and very special, they are those that exceed a certain amount in acquisitions, or the agencies request that there be a social witness in it ”, said the interviewee.
